giftcountdown: a personal digital Advent calendar you give as a gift

giftcountdown is a digital Advent calendar that you fill yourself and give to one person. Behind each of the 24 doors you place your own words, photos, videos, voice messages, vouchers or a small quiz. The recipient opens one door per day from 1 to 24 December, in the browser on any phone, without installing an app.

Designing and previewing a calendar is free. Sending it costs €14.90 once per calendar, VAT included (US: $14.90 plus applicable sales tax). There is no subscription and no advertising for the recipient.

How it works

  1. Start a calendar. Enter your name and the recipient's name, choose one of three designs and, if you like, start from a template for a partner, a family member, a friend or a child.
  2. Fill the 24 doors. Add text, photos, videos, voice messages recorded in the browser, vouchers, links or quiz questions. An optional AI writing helper suggests wording; you review every door before sending.
  3. Unlock and share the link. After the one-time payment you get a private gift link. Share it via WhatsApp or any messenger, or print the QR code gift card and put it in a Christmas card.

Frequently asked questions

What is giftcountdown?

giftcountdown is a personal digital Advent calendar. You fill 24 doors with your own messages, photos, videos, voice messages, vouchers or quiz questions and give the calendar to one person as a private link. They open one door per day from 1 to 24 December.

How much does a giftcountdown calendar cost?

Designing and previewing a calendar is free. To send it, you pay €14.90 once per calendar, VAT included; in the US the price is $14.90 plus applicable sales tax. There is no subscription, and the recipient pays nothing.

Does the recipient need an app or an account?

No. The recipient opens the gift link in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer. No app installation and no account are needed; only an internet connection.

Can I put a voice message behind a door?

Yes. You can record a voice message directly in the browser, listen to it and place it behind a door. Saving audio and video requires a confirmed email address.

Does it work for a long-distance relationship?

Yes. The calendar is shared as a link, so there is no parcel and no shipping time. Doors unlock in the time zone of the recipient's device, which also works across time zones.

Can I still give it after 1 December?

Yes. If the calendar is sent after 1 December, the recipient can open the doors whose day has already passed and then continue day by day until 24 December.

Who can see the calendar?

Only people who have the gift link. The calendar is not a public page and is not shown in search engines, so share the link only with the people it is meant for.

How long does the calendar stay available?

Until 31 January of the following year (UTC). After that, the calendar and all its photos, videos and voice messages are deleted, so it is not a permanent photo archive.
