For the family

An advent calendar for Mom, Dad, Grandma or Grandpa.

Parents and grandparents usually have everything money can buy. What they wish for is time, and a sign that you think of them. A digital advent calendar brings them 24 small greetings: family photos, memories, the grandchildren's voices and vouchers for hours together. They simply open it in the browser, with no app and no account.

€14.90 once per calendar VAT included (US: $14.90 plus sales tax).
Designing and previewing is free. You only pay when you send it.

Personal, not generic

Close, even when you can't visit every day.

Many families live far apart. A call doesn't always fit, a parcel takes days. A link arrives instantly and brings something new every morning: the photo from the summer party, a thank-you for something long ago, a song sung by the grandchildren.

Three ideas for your 24 doors

The beginning is often close at hand.

Three suggestions to fill with your own moments.

Our Advent tradition

Cookies, the Christmas market, the song on Christmas Eve: tell them which tradition stayed with you from childhood.

An old family photo next to a new one. Two pictures often say more than a long text.

An afternoon in the kitchen with a favourite recipe from back then. You plan the date together.

What makes giftcountdown different

More than 24 photos behind doors.

From you. For one person.

How it becomes your gift.

  1. Start with a template

Choose a design and start with the family template or an empty calendar.

  2. Add your own moments

Edit the texts, choose photos, record a message. Review and save all 24 doors before you send the calendar.

  3. Unlock and send the link

After payment you get your gift link. The recipient opens it in the browser, without an app account.

Easy to open, no tech skills needed.

The recipient needs no account and no app, just a browser on a phone, tablet or computer. You can send the link via WhatsApp or email, or print the QR gift card and put it in a letter. Each door opens at midnight in the time zone of their device.

Ideas for parents and grandparents

How the family calendar comes together

Start with the family template. It gives all 24 doors a starting point that you adapt. “Several photos” assigns many family pictures to doors at once.

Record voice messages directly in the browser or upload a recording as a file, such as the grandchildren's greeting. For audio and video you confirm your email address once.

Good to know

Before you start.

My mother doesn't have a smartphone. Does it still work?

Yes. The calendar opens in any current browser, including on a tablet or computer. An internet connection is required.

Can several family members contribute?

One person designs a calendar. You can collect greetings from others as photos, videos or audio files and add them to the doors.

What happens after Christmas?

The calendar stays available until 31 January. After that the calendar and its media are deleted, so keep important photos and recordings yourself too.

How long can the calendar be opened?

Doors unlock daily from 1 to 24 December. Access lasts until 31 January of the following year (UTC). After that, the calendar and its media are deleted, so it is not a permanent photo archive.

How much does it cost to send?

Sending costs €14.90 once per calendar, VAT included; in the US it is $14.90 plus applicable sales tax. There is no subscription. You can design your calendar for free and look at the preview before you decide to buy.
